If I could find a magic bullet to end this extra work I would be over the moon. In the individual processing example it takes approx another hour to go through and re render each track as vinyl ready versions, and then re build the proof which has been client passed. but that would involve deep integration, so I can see why that hasn't been applied in any DAWs yet.
What would be amazing would be a fader on export to pull down to a normalised level so there is no limiting. In the punk/metal global processing I can just take the DAW session, drop the level, take off dither and re export. If it's a something without global loudness processing I will produce a proof of the album from individual tracks which are processed in isolation (the long way round sometimes, but can get magic results, thank god for recall on gear/DAWs!). How do you handle this, Joe? Im doing all this with reaper atm and while its maybe not the most effective thing outthere it allows me all freedoms of choices to choosemy personal setup (which to me is much more important than being more time effective).Depends on the project really, most punk/metal albums I do one pass over the whole thing, export as one block of audio, chop up (either in a normal DAW for just plain old numbered wav files or in HOFA where a CD/Meta data format is requested).
#WHAT IS DDP MASTER FREE#
What I really like to see is an app that could deliver all different formats with just a few mouseclicks, but allows a very customize setup for this (means at least fully free choice of limiting and dithering).īut for example, as a lot of MEs use different limiter settings for different formats I cannot see it any usefull at the current state of development. I dont think it really needs complex functionality as it do not has to compete with my DAW. HOFA is on the right track here, already found and noted above some great tools for just getting the job done, and in a way the modern mastering client appreciates.Īlso it's really cheap so can't really complain! If the succeed in expanding its functionality whilst listening to real users and keeping it stable ( hint, hint!) they surely have a potential winner.Functionality is a funny one.įor some people an old SADIE DAW is the most functional thing ever because you can pretty much do anything ever to a CD master from any source imaginable.įor some people HOFA with its drop, do, move on to answering more emails.ĭeep tools as deep as you need them based on REAL work, not an endless sea of parameters.īut as few clicks as possible to do the real work that gets the jobs out the door.
#WHAT IS DDP MASTER SOFTWARE#
I haven't used yet nor I know the people behind it but it is a nice change to see they are interested in expanding/developing their software application through listening to day to day users and above all to mastering engineers for a change and not just some endorsee working in all fields of music except mastering.
